Welcome to Cloncurry Justice Association Inc.

 

Established in January 2005 under the Queensland Incorporation Act 1981. The Cloncurry Justice Association Inc. delivers a Community Justice Group.

 

We are funded by the Queensland Department of Justice and Attorney General (DJAG) under the Community Justice Group profile. We work with Solicitors from Queensland Legal Aid (QLA) and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Legal Services (ATSILS), Queensland Indigenous Family Violence Legal Service (QIFVLS), Human Rights and Discrimination - Queensland Legal Aid Brisbane, Community Rehabilitation, Probation & Parole, and Queensland Police Service.
 

Cloncurry Justice Association Inc. provides:

  • support and Case Management for our clients

  • referrals for Rehabilitation before the court, and

  • we can guide you to obtain the best result for your situation.

 

Under our service agreement with the DJAG, we provide the following community activities and services:

  • Night Patrol

  • Men’s Group

  • Women’s Group

  • Family Fun Days

  • Video Conferencing

  • Legal Resources

  • Client Support, including housing, child protection, justice advice and referrals

  • Home Visits

  • Domestic Violence support​

  • Court Submissions/Cultural Report

    • Bail

    • Sentencing

  • Referrals to support services i.e. ATODS and Counselling 

  • Host Centrelink

 

Attending numerous community events and interagency meetings, we advocate and provide support to the whole community working with victims and offenders who find themselves before the criminal justice system.

Our Board of Directors

As a not-for-profit organisation, Cloncurry Justice Association Inc. is governed by a Management Committee, Our Board of Directors.

 

They are elected directors to oversee the Management of the Cloncurry Justice Association Inc., and the daily operations are the responsibility of an independently employed Manager.

 

The Board of Directors generously volunteer their valuable time, expertise and skills to develop the organisation, services, programs and activities that benefit the Cloncurry people and community.

 

We acknowledge and appreciate the contributions Our Chairperson and Board members make to the strategic direction, good governance and positive leadership of the Cloncurry Justice Association together with our Manager.

As an Aboriginal Organisation operating on the Mitakoodi country, we would like to respectfully acknowledge the Mitakoodi people who are the traditional custodians of the land where we undertake our business.

 

We pay our respects to the Elders, past, present and emerging. We extend our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of our community.

To develop community resources to facilitate and meet the community’s justice needs, including Court Innovation and Community Specific Programs to better support victims and offenders of Domestic and Family Violence as well as reintegration back into the community.
